Birds In Row/Cottbus/Throatruiner Records/2011 CD Review

Birds  In  Row  are  a  band  from  France  that  plays  a  mixture  of  sludge,  grind,  crust  and  hardcore  and this  is  a  review  of  their  2011  album "Cottbus"  which  was  released  by  Throatrunner  Records.

Drums  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  drumming  with  some  blast  beats,  while  the  bass  playing  has  a  dark  tone  with  riffs  that  follow  the  riffing  that  is  coming  out  of  the  guitars  and  at  times  they  have  a  very  powerful  sound  to  them.

Rhythm  guitars  range  from  slow,  mid  paced  to  fast  riffs  that  combine  sludge,  grind,  crust  and  hardcore  together  with  a  good  amount  of  distortion  and  there  are  no  guitar  solos  or  leads  present  on  this  recording,  as  for  the  acoustic  guitars  which  are  only  used  on  the  outro  they  use  full  chords  to  enhance  the  darkness  that  is coming  out  of  the  music  .

Vocals  are  mostly  hardcore/sludge  growls  and  screams  mixed  in  with  some  hardcore  and  screamo  yells  as  well  as  a  brief  use  of  clean  singing,  while  the  lyrics  cover  dark  and  occult  themes,  as  for  the  production  it  has  a  very  dark,  strong  and  powerful  sound  to  it.

In  my  Opinion  Birds  In  Row  are  a  very  good  sounding  sludge/crust/hardcore  hybrid  style  band  and  if  you  are  a  fan  of  this  style,  you  should  check  out  this  band.  RECOMMENDED  TRACKS  INCLUDE  "Among  The  Ashes"  "Words  Of  Astaroth"  and  "A  Kid  Called  Dreamer".  RECOMMENDED  BUY.
